The PLANETech Market Square is a hub for climate-tech innovation, connecting startups, investors, and corporations in one place to tackle our planet's most pressing issues and power the next generation of ecosystem development

The Challenge

Developing a platform that caters to a range of users with different needs and offerings, while introducing them to other community members.

Outcome

Website, UI/UX, visual language

Core Elements

PLANETech has been a longstanding community for the climate-tech space in Israel. As such, it had a basic visual language. For the Market Square initiative, which has a wider scope, we decided to upgrade the look and feel.

The color palette was updated and expanded, the triangular pattern was developed into a modular grid system, and a completely new typographical layout was defined.

Challenges Hierarchy

A unique methodology developed by PLANETech looks at the climate crisis as a set of challenges and opportunities. With a well defined hierarchy of climate challenges, organized in three levels, each company in the ecosystem can claim its space, by presenting how it is tackling different challenges and what solutions it is developing.

The system we developed to accompany this concept, visualizes the 3 challenge levels with icons differing in visual complexity. The challenges, of which there are dozens, are represented using simple icons; the “challenge areas”, which are the mid level challenge groups, are shown as flat illustrations; the pillars, of which there are 5 and contain all challenge areas, are represented using multiple elements arranged on a 3d cube.

An Interactive Platform

The PLANETech Market Square platform contains multiple dynamic databases, used together to create a powerful tool for startups, companies, investors, and other stakeholders. Using the platform, users can research and contact community members in search for cooperations, opportunities, and solutions for the climate-related challenges they are facing.

Working on this project, we defined a few different user journeys, allowing for a customized user experience. Users can explore different eco-challenges or use the advanced search to filter specific community members, who match a set of parameters.

The Results

The PLANETech Market Square was launched in summer 2024, with a very positive reception by the climate-tech industry in Israel and beyond. Many companies, investors and other stakeholders have since submitted their request to join and be featured on the platform.
