Galmed Pharmaceuticals (Stock: GLMD) is a biopharmaceutical company based in Tel Aviv, Israel. Galmed reached out to us with an existing brand identity that needed adjustments and fine tuning in order to work better on-screen, and with a logo that didn’t display well in small sizes. In addition, the brand was suffering from inconsistencies throughout different mediums, while the website was totally off-mark with its target audience.
The Challenge
Defining a coherent brand language and resolving technical problems in Galmed’s existing logo. Outlining and designing an elaborate website that contains extensive amounts of data and complex medical and financial information.
Outcome
Brand identity, logo, collaterals, marketing materials, newsletters, infographics, website.
Updating the Brand
The project kicked off with the process of redesigning the logo, keeping the basic concept, but redrawing the icon and replacing the typeface with an original one. New color-shades were chosen and maximum legibility was taken into consideration with extra emphasis on small sizes.
All brand collaterals, including stationary, envelopes, business cards, etc., were redesigned to fit the new brand identity and a large-scale mural was created for the office space.

New Website
Galmed’s website was an extensive project of its own, that required a full end to end process: mapping out Galmed’s data and content; understanding its main target audiences (healthcare professionals, researchers, investors and patients); defining the core values and their visual representations; creating a complete range of graphic elements; and finally, managing the development process.
It was clear that the website should speak of technology and innovation, with a focus on the in-depth research the company performs, in addition to adhering to Galmed’s health values and their patients’ well-being.

Results
With the implementation of the new refined logo and brand identity, Galmed has been able to communicate its message in a clearer way and maintain a distinct visual presence.
Since the launch of the new website, there has been a significant increase in traffic, more page views and a lower bounce rate.
